The difference you have made
Without the amazing support that we received during lockdown, not only would we have had to find new homes for our animals, but we may have had to close permanently. Luckily, we have fantastic supporters, YOU!
Children definitely did us proud, such as Josh White climbing the Everest equivalent on his stairs, raising a phenomenal amount of over £20,000. Plus, over 30 other fundraisers doing their own personal challenges and events to help us survive the COVID-19 lockdown. You can see some of our zoo heroes in the gallery below.
Now that we’re back to as normal as we can be with the current restrictions, we’ve been able to introduce our amazing geladas to you and we’re able to restructure another old empty space into a new aviary, which will hopefully be finished before the summer of 2021.
During 2020, we converted an old classroom into our new Bug and Reptile House and have since been able to successfully breed endangered species, including two yellow headed day geckos brothers,Gordon and Gino.
Your support is still as critical as ever so we can continue our important work with all our animals. Being part of breeding programmes, research studies, mental health wellbeing projects, providing conservation and environmental education are just some of the other areas that are significant to everyone at the Zoo.
To all of our supporters, members, adopters, visitors – however you support us, all that is left to say is THANK YOU, from everyone here at Dartmoor Zoo.
